Changes in employment law

As we all head off for the May Day Bank Holiday, I wanted to remind you of a couple of changes to the law.

1.  From 6 May it will be compulsory for employees to notify ACAS of their intended claim before presenting it to the Employment Tribunal.  ACAS will then consider early conciliation of the claim.  This process has been optional since April, but becomes compulsory on Tuesday.

2. From 1 May, where the Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations (TUPE) apply, the seller of a business must provide Employee Liability Information to the purchaser 28 days before the transfer.  Previously, such information could be provided 14 days before the transfer.
